I haven't followed this story very closely, but the goings-on in the Republican campaign are rather strange. I suspect that the GOP has yet to learn that the summer's "Tea Parties" were not at all Republican campaign events, and that conservatives don't always support Republicans. The GOP has to tap into that anger, but cannot control it.
