Even the New York Times (yeah, I know, it was placed in the SPORTS pages) and the Washington Post had to acknowledge that Obama's Olympic bid was an epic failure, one that can hurt him politically. What did he gain? Other than making it clear for all to see that his "charm offensive" was more offensive than charming:
